What is Somyn?
Somyn is a reflection-first wellness app designed to help people reconnect with their body’s natural cues around hunger, movement, emotions, and energy. Instead of focusing on numbers, calories, or performance metrics, Somyn encourages mindful awareness, gentle tracking, and somatic reflection. It’s a supportive alternative to traditional fitness and nutrition apps that often rely on pressure, perfectionism, or data overload.
How does Somyn work?
Somyn uses a simple, mindful journaling system to help you observe your daily rhythms without judgment.
You can log:
-
How hungry or full you feel using descriptive cues
-
The type of movement you did and how it felt
-
Your hydration and fluid intake
-
Your emotional state, stress levels, and somatic signals
-
Optional weigh-ins with a softer, more neutral approach
-
Freeform reflections to explore thoughts, patterns, and insights
Somyn’s built-in AI companion, SomaGuide, offers gentle, non-directive prompts to support self-awareness — never advice, never judgment.
Over time, Somyn helps you spot the patterns behind your choices, moods, and needs so you can create sustainable, intuitive habits.

Potential User Concerns
I've tried tracking before, but I always fail / I'm not consistent. I'll fall off the wagon
This isn’t tracking in the traditional sense. There’s nothing to ‘fail,’ no streaks to maintain, no numbers to manage. It’s just a calm place to explore how you feel in your body on your terms. You cannot do this "wrong." Even one gentle check-in is valuable.

There’s no wagon here. Somyn is a companion, not a program. You can step in whenever you want and get value instantly. It welcomes you, even if you haven’t opened it in weeks. The app never asks, ‘Where have you been?’ It simply meets you.
I don't want another app judging what I eat or how I move.
Somyn never scores, labels, ranks, or judges. There are no ‘good’ or ‘bad’ foods, no red/yellow/green zones, and no penalties. You’re simply becoming aware of what’s happening inside you — without pressure or commentary. You choose how much or how little you want to record.
Will this trigger obsessive patterns?
This app avoids all numerical tracking, calorie data, macros, and performance metrics. It keeps the focus on felt experience — hunger, fullness, energy, emotion — instead of numbers. It's designed to feel like journaling, not tracking.
I don't want my data used or sold.
Your entries stay private. They’re not used for ads, sold, or shared.
Your reflections belong to you — and only you. You can delete your data anytime.
Potential Provider Concerns
Does this replace Therapy/Coaching? Is this app trying to do my job?
Somyn is not a therapeutic tool or a replacement for clinical work. It doesn’t diagnose, interpret, or tell clients what to do. It simply helps clients notice their internal cues between sessions so your existing work has more continuity and depth. Clients stay in full control of what they share. You stay in full control of the therapeutic direction.
I don't want to be responsible for monitoring someone's daily data.
Somyn is not designed to create additional clinician labor. You can use it with or without data visibility, and there’s no expectation to ‘monitor’ anything.
Your clients can simply bring insights to session if they wish. You get the benefit of richer context without the burden of extra work.
Tracking can be harmful for my population.
I completely agree, which is why Somyn removes calorie counts, macros, steps, streaks, and comparison features. It’s reflection-first, not metrics-first.
It’s designed to unhook clients from performance-based tracking. The language throughout the app is trauma-aware, non-directive, and based on nervous-system safety.
My clients already struggle with tech overload.
Somyn is intentionally simple. It’s built around low-friction prompts that take less than 30 seconds and don’t demand daily use. It supports clients who want awareness, not another task. Somyn is spacious, not stimulating. It’s built to feel like a deep breath, not a to-do list.
